MAPFRE is Hiring an Actuarial Analyst (Webster, MA) Near Webster, MA

Job Summary

Position is located in Webster, MA or within a commutable distance to accommodate an in office Hybrid schedule.
Actuarial Analyst on the rating team supports rate testing and premium validation for selected property and casualty insurance products offered by MAPFRE USA. The purpose of the testing is to ensure that the insurance premiums quoted to existing and potential customers are accurate. The person in this role will leverage a blend of business and technical competency to carry out their daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Updating rates/factors/formulas to align with I.T. production changes
  • Running, modifying and creating SQL queries in the cloud
  • Debugging rating errors for individual customer policies as part of root cause analysis
  • Learning the details of premium calculations and working towards becoming a rating expert
  • Updating existing, repetitive work efforts and projects with an eye towards efficiency
  • Spotting obvious errors and anomalies when retrieving and manipulating data
  • Understanding and using appropriate insurance and actuarial terminology in the context of analysis and explanations
  • Providing weekly progress updates to manager and the Market Pricing Project Manager
  • Attending department trainings and allocating time to learning about actuarial concepts
  • Pursuing exams on the CAS syllabus required
  • Must have high level of attention to detail

Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in Actuarial, Product or Underwriting for an insurance company is preferred but not required
  • 0-2 year of experience or equivalent related knowledge
  • Math, Economics or Computer Science degree preferred
  • Some knowledge of Excel and experience using a programming language
Education:

Bachelor's Degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, or equivalent related experience
